From the Pacific Northwest to Italy
A review of works over the years by:
Katherine L Wright
Location: Silver Wing Lobby,
Evergreen Hospital, Kirkland WA
Artists Reception: To be announced at a later date
"Art at Evergreen" presents this review of new and old works by
Katherine L Wright, the artist who created the 12 Illustrations for the “Kirkland Centennial Calendar” in 2005.
From 2005 until 2008, Katherine lived with her family Puglia, Italy.
The show explores the contrast of the light, rhythms and life of 3 regions:
Puglia (the Southern boot-heal of Italy where she lived)
Tuscany (the favorite Italian vacation haunt of Americans) and
The Pacific Northwest (her United States home)
Some of these works maintain the illustrative quality reflecting her profession as an Architectural Illustrator. However, there is a large sampling of her venture into a looser, more expressive style.
“Her experience in Italy has given her the freedom to experiment opening a new dimension of color, spontaneity and spirit which adds a very human and emotional response to her recent work. These images have a life and spirit of their own“.
William Hook, Past President of the American Society of Architectural Illustrators (ASAI)
The exhibit is on display from
November 3 2009 thru February 1 2010
